Ensemble 126 is a dynamic flute ensemble founded in Florida in 2020. The name "Ensemble 126" was inspired by the materials frequently used to make concert C flutes, the primary instrument of the ensemble. By adding the atomic numbers of gold (79) and silver (47), Ensemble 126 was born. Meet our members below!
E126 has had the pleasure of performing at numerous regional and national events including the Florida Flute Association convention and the American Musicological Society Southern Regional Conference. The ensemble is also the 2021 National Flute Association C.R.E.A.T.E. Competition winner (Creating Resources through Engagement, Artistry, Teamwork, and Entrepreneurship) that launched their first composition competition and premiere of a new work by Sami Seif in 2022. In addition to performances in the musical community, E126 has brought engaging, informative performances to in-person and virtual audiences of many diverse communities.
Ensemble 126 is dedicated to expanding the repertoire for flute ensemble. Through commissions, the group hopes to create a more expansive collection of repertoire that defies common expectations of the traditional flute ensemble. The group has enjoyed meaningful collaborations with prominent members of the broader musical community, working with flutists, composers, and conductors Raimundo Pineda, Ervin Monroe, and recording producer John Hadden.
To create a truly unique, cutting edge sound, Ensemble 126 utilizes world, historic, and the full range of modern concert flutes.
