Adrian Robert McGrady, originally from upstate NY, began his musical
journey at Friendship Baptist Church singing in both children's and adult
choirs. Inspired after seeing Hubert Laws and James Galway perform, he
chose to learn the flute. Adrian studied under Barry Crawford at SUNY
Buffalo and with Dr. Christine Moulton Fish at Mansfield University, where
he was introduced to various flutes.
He has performed in masterclasses and concerts across states, including at
Carnegie Hall with the Mansfield University Concert Wind Ensemble and
with the national LGBTQIA+ Flute Ensemble at the 2025 World Pride
Festival. Currently, Adrian is touring all 50 states, performing new flute
music on five different instruments: piccolo, C flute, alto flute, bass flute,
and contrabass flute.
Adrian performs regularly with groups such as Melanin Rhapsody Flute
Ensemble, LGBTQIA+ Flute Ensemble, Crystal City Flutes, White Sabers
Drum and Bugle Corps, and Emanon Winterguard. He is working on a
cinematic project, “Unseen, Unheard, Unknown...,” that will show you the
perspective of life through the eyes of an artist; and on his debut low flutes
album, “Consonance,” which will spotlight the unique sound of alto, bass,
and contrabass flutes.
Mr. McGrady is a Pearl Flutes, Low Flutes artist.
